The Town The Main Street The narrow main street of Stromness winds past the harbour through a canyon of centuries old sandstone buildings, housing many interesting shops, several hotels and cafes. Those on the sea side of the street have their own piers and slipways, some with public access giving good views of the harbour and nearby islands.
